The Judicial Conference of the United States approved a change to its broadcast policy that affects the ability of public attendees to access bankruptcy proceedings via remote means. Judges presiding over bankruptcy cases are permitted to provide non-case participants/members of the public, including members of the media and press, with audio-only access to proceedings that do not involve witness testimony. Meaning non-case participants/members of the public, including the media and press, that wish to observe portions of a hearing that involve witness testimony must attend the hearing in-person at the courthouse.
This policy does not affect the ability of Case Participants (e.g.; parties, attorneys, and witnesses) to participate remotely when permitted to do so by the Judge.
